Documentation

Collector is a relaxation game, a slow-paced game where you enjoy the game itself more than the score or "victory".

While there is a "goal" in the game, the actual purpose is to just drift into the scenery. You do get points for gathering coloured diamonds, either a limited number or an endless randomly respawning amount. This gives you a reason to explore the area.

Collector features vast landscapes full of forests, valleys, lakes and (later in development) landmarks.

The game's challenge is orientation. There is no map, no GPS, no indication of where you are except what you see around you. The diamond collecting system forces you to occasionally remember a place and return later. There are three colours of diamonds. You get a point when you have collected a full set. You can not collect another, say, green diamond if you already have one. So if you stumble upon one while you do, you may want to remember its location and return there later.

Controls

Look around using the mouse. Move with WASD or cursor keys.

Space to jump. (might be removed in the final version) Shift to run. (might be removed in the final version)

Game Modes

The game has two different game modes:

In this game mode, a fixed number of gems is placed on the terrain and once you have them all, the game is completed.

The number on the icon is the number of gem sets, so with "20", the game will have 20 red, 20 green and 20 blue gems.

In this game mode, it is possible to "win" the game, by collecting all the gems. However, due to the sheer size of most levels, it will almost always be very time consuming to find each and every gem. Which is not really the purpose, remember that this is a relaxation game.

In this game mode, a number of gems will be placed on the terrain, and whenever you collect one of them, somewhere else a new one (of the same colour) will spawn.

The number on the icon is the number of gem sets, so with "3", there will always be 3 red, 3 green and 3 blue gems.

In this mode, the game can go on forever, or until the player quits. Since gems spawn anew, even areas already visited many times can be visited again and again to search for new gems.
